TREATMENT APPROACHES

We provide a range of evidence-based treatment approaches and tailor a treatment plan to your individual needs. Below are some of the treatment approaches we use:

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a type of treatment proven to be effective for a range of mental health difficulties (including major depressive disorder and generalised anxiety disorder). CBT is based on the premise that how you think and act impacts the way you feel. As such, CBT used strategies such as thought challenging and behavioural experiments to assist in changing these.

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a modified version of CBT. 'Dialectic' means 'working with opposites' and DBT uses strategies that work on both acceptance and change. The main goals of DBT are to assist you to regulate your emotions more effectively, tolerate distress in a healthy way, live in the moment, and improve relationships with others.

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a therapeutic approach that aims to assist you move from indecision and ambivalence towards a greater readiness and motivation for positive change. MI is commonly used in addiction treatment.

Acceptance and commitment therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on assisting clients behave in a way that is consistent with their values.  ACT uses acceptance principles and mindfulness techniques as well as commitment and behaviour-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility, cope and live with uncontrollable experiences, and reduce distress.
